The Malta International Challenge Marathon is carried out in three stages. The course leads past charming fishing villages and the beautiful Maltese coast. The finish and start locations vary from day to day. On the first day the participants run a flat 16 km run around Sigigewi, then the challenge continues the next day with a fast 5 km run in Marsacala. On the last day the longest distance is run: a half marathon in Buggiba. After that you will have successfully completed the Malta International Challenge. Overall a fantastic challenge!

Welcome to Malta! You fly to Malta on your own. A transfer to the hotel is waiting for you at the airport! The Dolmen Resort is the accommodation for this running trip. The hotel is situated in the lively city of Buggiba. In the evening you can take a walk along the cosy boulevard.

Today you can pick up your bib number. The rest of the day you will have time to explore the area and prepare yourself. A visit to the Blue Lagoon or the historic city of Valletta is highly recommended.

Discover Malta! You are completely free to plan this day as you wish. In the evening there is a welcome drink at the hotel. Tomorrow the Malta International Challenge starts, so it's important to be well rested at the start.
Friday, 26 November 2021
First day of the challenge! The first stage is about 16 km long and the start and finish point is in Sigigewi. The start is at 13:00 hrs. The route is flat today and therefore suitable for a fast time! Tomorrow the 5 km long stage is on the program.

Day two of the challenge! A short stage of 5km on a flat course means that today is about running a very fast time! Start and finish are today in Marsacala. Tomorrow the half marathon will be run.
Sunday, 28 November 2021
The last day of the challenge! The third day is the longest distance. The beginning and end of the half marathon is in Buggiba, just 700 metres from the Dolmen Resort. They start at 08:00. When you cross the finish line, you will have successfully completed the Malta International Challenge Marathon. Congratulations!

Excursion possibility to Gozo. Today you can join the optional excursion to Gozo (costs 50 EUR per person). The bus departs at 08:15 and the excursion lasts until 17:00. On Gozo you can enjoy the fantastic nature and historic buildings that this island has to offer. In the evening the award ceremony will take place and we expect a pleasant evening!

The last day of the running trip. You will go on your own to the airport for the return flight. Of course you will go home with a nice experience!
We do not offer transport for this arrangement by default. However, we do offer the option to book flights with us. Prices will vary if you choose to make use of our service.
Dolmen Hotel Malta

The Dolmen Resort is situated on the shoreline of St. Paul's Bay and offers guests stunning sea views. The hotel's facilities are fantastic and offer both runners and supporters the opportunity to work towards the Malta International Challenge Marathon in a pleasant stay. The Dolmen Resort, for example, has a spa, with a sauna and a gym located within the hotel. All rooms are air-conditioned and many have a balcony or terrace overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. In the morning, you can make use of the extensive breakfast buffet.
You will stay in the Dolmen Resort together with all the other participants in this Challenge Marathon, which creates a sporty atmosphere in the hotel. From the hotel all participants go by bus to the different start- and finish locations or by foot on the days that the start- and finish are close to the hotel. These can also be booked for supporters at an additional cost. In the evenings you can enjoy the atmospheric St. Pauls Bay, where there are several restaurants and casinos.
St. Pauls Bay, named after the apostle Paul, is now one of the most popular holiday resorts in Malta. The liveliness of this beautiful bay makes it a fine seaside resort with crystal clear sea and high-quality restaurants. On the promenade of St. Pauls Bay, you can take a nice walk, find various souvenir shops or relax on a terrace. The sunset in the bay is one of the most beautiful moments during a stay here. From here you can also make different excursions, for example a visit to the island of Gozo or a day in the capital Valletta.
