Valencia -- Valencia Marathon
- Trip duration
- 04 Dec 2020
- 07 Dec 2020
The Valencia Marathon has become increasingly popular in recent years and is therefore often sold out early. And this is logical; the overall good weather conditions, the flat course and of course the beautiful start and finish location in the City of Arts and Sciences! The track runs through the historic centre of Valencia. The runners will pass some of the highlights of the city, such as the Plaza Anyuntamiento, the Plaza de Toros and the Turia Park. As the marathon takes place at the end of the calendar year, the temperature during this period is between 12 and 17 degrees. In combination with the flat course, this is an ideal opportunity to set a personal record!

The start of a special running trip! From the airport in Valencia, a transfer has been arranged to your hotel. The evening starts late in Valencia, you can always have a look in the city for a snack or a drink. The paella, which originates from Valencia, is a much eaten meal in the city. You should definitely try this regional meal. A well-known drink in Valencia is Aqua de Valencia or Valencian water. This is an alcoholic refreshment with an orange flavour. I would say above all: "Enjoy, but drink in moderation".

Running, pasta party and discovering Valencia! Today there is a running session planned, led by ex-Dutch marathon champion Paul Zwama. Furthermore, on this day you have to pick up your BIB number. In the evening, a presentation is planned with a pasta party to finish it off. During the day, there is enough free time to explore the city. Some of the sights in Valencia that are definitely worth visiting are: Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias (also the start of the marathon), Mercado central (a market hall), Plaza de la Virgen, Jardines de Turia, Plaza Ayuntamiento or Plaza de Toros. For football fans, there is also the chance to visit Valencia's two stadiums (Valencia and Levante). Valencia is a bicycle-friendly city and therefore easy to explore by bike. There are plenty of possibilities to rent a bike.
