After the Dresden Half Marathon, the 10km is the most popular distance during the marathon weekend in this East German city. On the flat course, running one new personal record is a common reason for participation. But the route through beautiful Dresden is also a fantastic experience for runners who want to take it a little easier. Starting before the Dresden Half and Full Marathon, it promises to be an atmospheric day!

Course

The route takes you through the pub-filled New Town (one of Europe's largest Gründerzeit-style districts), over the Waldschlößchen Bridge to the Grand Garden, and back to the historic city centre full of famous sights.

  • Trip schedule

    Wilkommen in Dresden! You have arrived in Dresden today on your own transport, marking the start of a special trip! After checking into the hotel, you will have time to explore the city, or to recover from the trip to the east of Germany.

    After the daily breakfast buffet, you will have plenty of time today to delve into Dresden's special history. A city, where you will be reminded of the consequences of World War II and the division between East and West Germany. In addition, you should pick up your starting number today at the marathon expo at the International Congress Centre. Here you can also participate in the optional pasta party!

    The big day! After breakfast, head to the start of the 10km, half marathon or full marathon. In an international field of participants, you can enjoy the intimate atmosphere surrounding this event after the starting gun. After reaching the finish line, you will receive a beautiful medal as a memento of this achievement.

    The end of the trip. After breakfast, check out of the hotel. Afterwards, you will have the choice to start the journey home immediately, or take a moment to see Dresden for the last time. We hope that in addition to a medal, you will have gained a great experience.

    Located in the lively and cosy shopping street Prager Straße, the Hotel Ibis Dresden Zentrum has, as its name suggests, a central location in Dresden. From here, the main train station and the entire inner city of this beautiful city in the east of Germany are within walking distance. The location in the Altstadt, the old town, also ensures that you can easily reach the main attractions, such as the Zwinger Palace complex and the Frauenkirche. 

    The rooms at the Ibis Dresden Zentrum are classically furnished. The bathroom has a shower, and you can park on site for a fee. The continental breakfast buffet is available from 06:00, so that you are well prepared for the start of the Dresden Marathon, Half Marathon or 10 km. This start and finish location is only 25 minutes from the hotel by tram. All in all, the Ibis Dresden Zentrum will help you to enjoy a fantastic marathon weekend in Dresden without any worries!
