The race

Marathon do Funchal! The Funchal Marathon will take place in Madeira again in 2025. On this beautiful island in Portugal, full of nature, you will never be bored during the marathon! But there is also plenty to do in your spare time with all the walking routes in nature. This includes the Laurisilva, a forest that we also had in the Netherlands 25 million years ago and is now on the UNESCO World Heritage List! Is the marathon just a little too long? Then you can always run the Half Marathon or the Mini Marathon of 8 km.

Today your trip to Madeira begins! You fly with Transavia from Amsterdam to Funchal (06:25-09:35) and then the transfer to hotel Pestana CR07.

Bomb dia Madeira! Today you can explore the island at your leisure, starting with the town of Funchal, where you will also be staying. The harbor here is very nice and the center is full of small streets and fishermen's houses. You can also take the cable car to the Monte district where you will find the botanical gardens of the Monte Palace.

Day at leisure. Today, as training for the marathon, you could take a nice walk on Pico Ruivo, the highest mountain on the island (1861m). The top of the mountain can be reached after a 7 km walk. Along the way you can enjoy beautiful views. Please keep in mind that it will take you approximately 4 hours.
